Lefkada is connected to the mainland by a short causeway and floating bridge, so you can drive straight on. Its west coast has some of the most spectacular beaches in Greece.

Highlights

  • Porto Katsiki and Egremni beneath white cliffs
  • Kathisma beach at sunset
  • Windsurfing and kitesurfing at Vasiliki
  • Boat trips from Nydri to Meganisi and around Skorpios
  • Mountain villages like Karya

The contrast on Lefkada is striking: the west coast faces open sea with long, wild beaches of brilliant blue water, while the east is sheltered, with calm bays, marinas and views of small islands.

Nydri is the hub for boat trips to the nearby islands; Vasiliki in the south is a world-class windsurfing spot thanks to reliable afternoon winds.

☀️ Best time to visit

June and September. West-coast beaches can have strong waves on windy days.

🧭 Getting there & around

Preveza (Aktion) airport is about 20 minutes away. Drive from Athens in around 4.5–5 hours or catch a KTEL bus.
